In this article, we will show you three more things to do in Vienna this month, besides visiting the beautiful Christmas Markets.

Autumn has truly arrived, and with the weather growing colder, every day is either a step into a colorful world of crunchy leaves or a reminder of the November blues. To combat that, Vienna offers a range of amazing things to do, like visiting one of the beautiful Christmas Markets that open on the 10th of November. Not your thing? Not a problem! In this article, we put together three more things you can experience this month in Vienna.

1. Buch Wien

This month, Vienna is not just a city full of beautiful lights and Christmas Markets, it will also be all about books! For the 15th time, the “Buch Wien” will take place as the largest literary event in the Austrian publishing industry and offer a large program covering a wide range of topics. With more than 350 stage talks, panel discussions, and lectures by more than 400 local and international writers and experts from 25 nations – there certainly is something for everyone. From the 8th to the 12th of November, book lovers and reading enthusiasts may even have the chance to visit and, with many hundreds of exhibiting publishers, get themselves an autograph from their favorite authors.

Date: 8. - 12. November
Costs: 20€ per day

2. Michelangelo and Beyond

Is there a better way to spend a rainy November afternoon than exploring some of the greatest artists and admiring their works? At the Albertina Museum, Michelangelo, one of the most well-known artists in history, takes center stage as the master of the Renaissance in this exhibition on the origin and impact of the physical ideal and the depiction of human anatomy. His works had a lot of formative influence on artists of his time, but even beyond that, his works influenced art far into the 20th century. Therefore, the exhibition spans from his early works to Raphael, Dürer, Rembrandt, Rubens, Mengs, and Batoni, as well as Klimt and Egon Schiele. It includes artworks on loan from the New York Metropolitan Museum, the Louvre in Paris, and the Lichtenstein Princely Collection. All in all, a beautiful collection of fascinating pieces worth a visit!

Date: until 14. January 2024
Costs: 18,90€ General Admission Ticket

3.  The Third Man at Burg Kino

Sometimes the November weather invites you to get comfortable in a big red plush chair and lose yourself in a movie. In Burg Kino, you can do just that and enjoy its great vintage flair. As one of the oldest cinemas in Europe and the first Austrian cinema to screen movies in their original language, it continues to offer a great variety of genres on screen in their original version, some with German subtitles. But beyond their regular program, the Burg Kino regularly shows the classic movie “The Third Man” from 1949, famously shot in Vienna. So, get comfy, grab some popcorn, and enjoy the show!

Date: Regularly updated schedule
Costs: ~10€ per ticket
