challenges when working with a relocation company

07-Mar-2023 | FAQ: Challenges When Working with a Relocation Company

This is a guide to help you understand what to expect when you are working with a relocation company.

The services of a relocation company are undoubtedly helpful and save you a great amount of time. However, this does not mean you can lean back and watch everything happen in the blink of an eye. There are several to-dos or processes that we simply cannot control. Here they are:

  1. Collecting the documents
  2. Speeding up the application
  3. Defining the criteria for the accommodation
  4. Choosing a school for your kids
  5. Going to appointments

Collecting the documents

The list of documents goes on and on. You don't know where to start? Let us guide you through the whole process, explain the documents needed, and share them with the authorities.

What we are not able to do is collect the documents for you. For example, your birth certificate legalization or work contract, to name a few. Even though our main goal is to provide the best service and even go the extra mile, some things are just out of our control. Active engagement is what we await from you.

Trust us, the safest and most efficient way to do things is to be precautious! Delays due to missing papers will cost you more nerves and time than being overly patient.

Speeding up the process

The question you will probably ask yourself and share these concerns with us: How is my application going? To be honest, as boring as it sounds, the best advice is to stay patient.

It applies to many other things during your relocation too. From waiting for approval of your rental offer to getting an insurance confirmation sent to you via post. Yes, in Austria, so many papers are sent around. And as you probably know from our previous article, you cannot switch to digital. So patience, patience, and more patience! The timeline is unpredictable and longer than we tend to think, so we can only estimate, but not promise.

How do I choose the right flat?

Defining your goals and discussing your preferences are crucial for us to provide the best service possible. However, it might get tricky and challenging if you get puzzled when defining the criteria for a flat. You can get prepared by answering the following questions in advance:

  • How much am I ready to pay?
  • How far from the office/school the accommodation may be?
  • Would you like to be in the heart of the city or better somewhere outside?
  • Are you planning to bring/buy a car in Austria?

Our relocation consultants are skilled professionals. You will get insights into the Austrian rental market and choose the one according to your budget. We offer even more: an orientation tour of Vienna, where you can choose a district and a flat according to your taste. Here are some frequently asked questions we are happy to qualify.

  • What are the differences between “Altbau” and “Neubau”?
  • How are rooms and floors counted in Austria?
  • How much does a flat cost in different districts?
  • Do I have to pay a deposit?
  • What about the furniture?

Coming with children

It is always a challenge of its own! When it comes to schools and kindergartens, parents might quickly get a headache. Firstly, be aware that the Austrian school system is quite complicated, so choosing the right school might get chaotic. Deciding between private and state schools is important. The same applies to kindergartens. Language should not be a problem in Vienna, but it is better that your children are prepared in advance and learn some German. Together with your consultant, you should think properly to go for the right school. Sometimes, defining what you need is not that easy.
